In April 1995, John Ng, founder of Taison Restaurant, established the restaurant in Taman Molek, Johor Bahru.
The restaurant was named “Taison” (Taizi) following the birth of his eldest son around the time of its founding - making the name a meaningful part of the family story behind the restaurant.
Within just three months of opening, Taison Restaurant gained the attention of local diners and became one of the familiar names in Johor Bahru’s Chinese dining scene.
Over the years, Taison Restaurant has developed a collection of signature flavours of its own. Our signature selection spans seafood, roasts, comforting Chinese dishes and fried rice noodles.
Among them, White Pepper Crab with Pumpkin Soup remains one of Taison Restaurant’s distinctive signatures. The natural sweetness of pumpkin comes together with the warmth of white pepper and the savoury richness of fresh crab, creating a comforting and flavourful dish that has become a favourite among many diners.
Since 1995, Taison Restaurant has been part of many generations of family gatherings in Johor Bahru. It is a place for everyday family meals, gatherings with friends, business dinners, birthday celebrations and important occasions.
Today, Taison Restaurant has entered a new chapter. From the selection of ingredients and cooking techniques to presentation and the overall dining experience, we continue to evolve.
Because we believe: classic flavours do not need to be replaced. They simply deserve to be made better and presented anew.
The environment may evolve. The flavours may be presented in new ways. But what we hope to preserve is that familiar feeling - a table of good food bringing family together.
